A limited area of concrete slabs were removed from the rear garden, front entrance and side access and replaced with a mixture of quality porcelain & contrasting grey clay pavers.
Generic, hardy but dull shrubs were stripped away, beds cleared of clay and debris before introduction of soil improver. Prepared beds were then filled with shrubs, herbaceous plants and trees, providing year-round interest, colour, texture, structure, height and privacy.
The main patio was doubled in size, creating a generous entertaining space. A light grey Italian porcelain was laid & jointed with a contrasting grout. New planting wraps around the entire space, surrounding guests with colour and fragrance. Precisely sized evergreen pleached trees work perfectly with existing fencing to give total privacy.
A slender clay paver complementary in colour is used alongside the porcelain to form side steps and porch access, adding a lovely contrast in texture. Significant planted borders across the front of the house and to each side feature strong structural planting, the height of mid-sized trees, all surrounded with swathes of texture, colour and fragrance of herbacous plants. All front beds are dressed with a decorative grey dove gravel.
A simple drip hose irrigation system is set up on a smart timer, keeping plants looking at their best. While Inlite, low-voltage lighting brings the garden to life at night.
