Function and Style

Following a full-house refurbishment and extension, the drive now gets attention!

Having become totally overgrown, the majority of planting was removed, creating a blank canvas. The entrance was relocated to a central location, creating more space and improved function, with parking spaces allowing other vehicles to move easily on and off the drive.

The front porch and pathways were finished using a buff limestone, with limestone paver details. The same stone, cut as a cobble, is used to form a drive threshold, giving a robust coarse texture. The main body of the drive is finished in complementary golden-coloured tar and chip.

Curved raised beds manage a level change and guide the cars to the exit and newly installed automated gates. Beds are clad with limestone slips and topped with a curved and bullnose coping.

Boundaries are finished with horizontal larch fencing, which have integral gates to both sides of the property.

A new laurel hedge is planted across the front boundary, at 1500mm, to create an immediate screen; other planting softens and brings the space to life, incorporating trees, climbing plants, shrubs, herbaceous plants and bulbs. Irrigation keeps the planting lush and at its best year-round.

Power is run to the newly built oak-framed garage and store, allowing for the relocation of the car charger and installation of our inlite hub. This transformer drives the inlite low-voltage lighting system. A mixture of spike lights under trees and climbers with sway fittings amongst herbacous planting, defusing light into the plants.
