This new build garden wraps around the back of the house but the existing terrace received little or no sun. This was resolved by spinning the orientation of the proposed garden design 45º and pushing the dining terrace out further into the garden. The design is then extends out from this terrace along the same, or perpendicular orientation to creat e the garden space. Deep grey clay paver paths stretch out from this terrace to a sun terrace and around to a more shaded courtyard area of the garden. The sun terrace has then been created against the property wall to maximise the southern position. The planting scheme throughout is to be insect and wildlife friendly with a contemporary, soft Mediterranean theme. In the planting beds, there were patches left for the client to grow edibles so their children can learn and watch plants grow. The space was designed to allow the garden to evolve with the children. Once the trampoline is removed, the corner behind the garage will become a fire pit space, nestled amongst mature planting.
